Biography
Hera Oktadiana earned her Ph.D from the School of Hotel and Tourism Management, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She also received CHE (Certified Hospitality Educator) from the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute.
She has been the Head of Hotel Management/ Hospitality and Tourism Departments at Bina Nusantara (BINUS) University and Bunda Mulia University, and Deputy Manager for the International Hotel and Tourism at Trisakti Institute of Tourism in Indonesia. She joined James Cook University, Australia as a Visiting Scholar (tourism research) in 2017, then as an Adjunct Senior Lecturer, and then later as an Adjunct Associate Professor. She also serves as Adjunct Professor of Brawijaya University Indonesia.
Her working and studying experiences in Indonesia, the USA, Japan, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Hong Kong, and Australia have contributed to the good interpersonal and communication skills, and to working with people in diverse environment.
Her research interests include tourist behavior, Muslim tourists, tourism sustainability, Halal tourism, and tourism education. She has published in various Scopus indexed tourism journals such as Annals of Tourism Research, International Journal of Tourism Research, Tourism Management Perspectives, Asia Pacific Journal of Tourism Research, Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Education, Tourism Review, Current Issues in Tourism, Tourism Recreation Research, and Tourism Culture, & Communication.
Several of her academic works and publications have received awards, including from the Ministry of Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, the Council for Australasian Tourism and Hospitality Education (CAUTHE), and Wiley Publication.
She has published an edited book titled "Delivering Tourism Intelligence: From Analysis to Action" (Emerald Publication).
She has been actively serving as a reviewer for numerous tourism journals and conferences.
At present she is a Regional Editorial of International Journal of Tourism Research (IJTR), and editorial board members of Asia Pacific Journal of Tourism Research (APJTR), Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Insights (JHTI), Journal of Travel and Tourism Marketing (JTTM), Journal of Hopitality and Tourism Education, and Humanities and Social Science Communication.
