Biography
Associate Professor Felecia Watkin Lui is a Torres Strait Islander academic with giz from Erub, Mabuiag and Badu in the Torres Strait. She is the Head of Indigenous Teaching Programs, Indigenous Education and Research Centre at James Cook University. Her work addresses research impact, benefit and knowledge translation, with an emphasis on codesign and engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and organisations. She is a recognised leader in Torres Strait Islander research with a focus on the intersectionality of health and the environment. She is currently a Chief Investigator on the following research projects: ARC Centre of Excellence for Indigenous Environmental Histories and Futures; NH&MRC National Network for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Researchers; and ARC Indigenous Discovery ‘Navigating the Tides of Change: a study of political action and change in the Torres Strait.’
