Dave Sellars

David is a Senior Lecturer (Environmental Health) employed by James Cook University and is based in Cairns. He brings a unique, practical perspective to his role at the university having entered academia after a long successful career in Public Health based in North Queensland. His specialty areas are Public Health Emergency Preparedness, Food Safety, Environmental Health Law, Public Health Risk Assessment and the Environmental Determinants of Health.

David is deeply committed to fulfilling JCU's value of authenticity. David has been proud to call the communities of North Queensland home for the past 30 years and remains actively engaged in their well-being. This commitment drives his current research on tobacco product design regulation, which aims to empower communities by reducing tobacco-related harm and advancing the Tobacco Endgame.
