Biography

Bethany Keats is a PhD student in creative writing and history. Her thesis is using her grandmother's against-the-odds divorce as a case study for exploring the use of gothic literature to communicate critical family histories, with a focus on women. 

Her research interests include gothic literature, critical family history, women's history, 1950s Australia, family history and genealogy, female gothic, Australian gothic, and the history of French migration to Australia

She is co-host of Edits & Annotations, sponsored by the Roderick Centre for Australian Literature and Creative Writing, and co-editor of Sūdō Journal

Bethany is a Communications and International Advisor at the Innovative Research Universities (IRU), and previously worked at ABC Radio Australia as a producer and journalist for their Pacific service. 

She has a Master of Marketing in Public Relations and Image Marketing from Deakin University; a Bachelor of Arts (Languages) in Japanese and Spanish from Monash University; and a Diploma of Sustainable Living from the University of Tasmania.
