Biography

Amanda graduated with a Bachelor of Pharmacy in 2000 which lead to her working in a variety of clinical positions in both public and private hospitals, as well as in community pharmacy. In North-West Queensland she undertook both a clinical pharmacist role and an outreach pharmacist role which included working with a multi-disciplinary allied health team and the RFDS throughout the region. Practicing as a pharmacist at rural, remote and regional hospitals has allowed her to develop a range of clinical skills in specialty areas including orthopaedic, geriatric, cardiovascular, and palliative care. Amanda tutored at JCU in the areas of pharmacy practice and rural and remote health care from 2009 until 2015 and after completing her Master of Pharmaceutical Public Health in 2016, she began to teach as a lecturer in 2017. She teaches mainly into the undergraduate pharmacy program, however also has involvement in the rural generalist program. She is currently a PhD (Health) candidate following recent completion of a Postgraduate Honours by publication (2023).
