Global Compilation of Marine Carbonate Oxygen Isotopes from Seawater from the Phanerozoic and Precambrian Rock Records
- Creators
- Jasmine Jaffres
- Description
This dataset is a compilation of oxygen isotope records from marine carbonate rocks showing the oxygen isotope evolution of seawater for the past 3.4 billion years. Long term trends in chemical weathering of rocks and hydrothermal circulation can influence the oxygen isotope composition of the global ocean. Residual variation is attributed to climatic fluctuations and -post-depositional alteration.
