Abstract
[Extract] Since publishing a case of beak and feather disease virus carriage by Knemidocoptes pilae (Portas et al., 2017), we have demonstrated more psittacine beak and feather disease (PBFD)-affected sulphur crested cockatoos with similar skin lesions and mites carrying BFDV antigen (Figure 1). In one of these birds BFDV antigen was also demonstrated in endothelial cells of large vessels in the brain associated with a perivascular mononuclear inflammatory cellular infiltration.
