Chinese migration and families in Australia: integration and challenges

Chinese migrants have been entering Australia since colonisation. Historically, migration has been turbulent and fluctuated depending on the opportunity, policy, and conflict of the time. Today, Australia adopts a multicultural perspective which supports the economic and societal benefits of including many cultures as residents. It provides opportunities for new migrants, as well as presenting the challenges associated with transferring from one culture to another. To support Chinese migrants in their transition, the government, charities, and private bodies provide support and assistance that is both financial and social. The future of Australia with the increase of international migration will continue to be influenced by Chinese migration, as will the development of services which assist in the adjustment process.
