Abstract

The Asian spa is a rapidly growing segment in tourism, which has received much attention from various sectors. This paper presents tourists' insights on their spa experiences and the benefits they realise from spa-going holiday activities while travelling in South and Southeast Asia, specifically in India, Thailand and the Philippines. This study explores tourist experiences through netnography, also known as "online ethnography" (Kozinets, 2002). The data reported here are concentrated on self-reported benefits that tourists gained during a spa experience. The findings suggest that the kinds of positive experiences that tourist spa-goers gain from the spa activity encompass the different dimensions of well-being.
