Abstract
[Extract] Nothing in Mr Joyner's response leads me to revise the views I expressed in the original review. Mr Joyner claims I do not engage with his 'philosophical' arguments about the classification of species. I engaged with that section of the book as kindly as I could. The book does not discuss the place of the type specimen in scientific classification, and wishes the Yahoo to be accepted by science while not fulfilling that requirement. I think the quality of Mr Joyner's explanations in his rejoinder—particularly of whether the Yahoo and Yowie are one and the same—give sufficient flavour of the quality of argument in his book.
