Abstract

Tourism policy development and implementation is examined in this study based on good governance. The paper evaluates existing tourism policies in Papua New Guinea based on governance principles and its application to ecotourism ventures at the village level. Application of governance principles in existing tourism policies are evident at the national government level but there is little evidence of that in the operations of ecotourism ventures at the village level in this case study. Implications for ecotourism ventures applying governance principles in policy development and implementation are discussed in the final discussion.
