Abstract

The X-ray crystal structures of a range of protonated or quaternary amines show a variety of supramolecular interactions, predominantly hydrogen bonding, but in structures where there is no classical H-donor atoms, C–H···I interactions dominate the solid-state structure. The X-ray crystal structures of [TETA(H+)4][tos]4·4 H2O (1), [TETA(H+)2][NO3]2 (2) (TETA = triethylenetetramine), [Apip(H+)2][NO3]2 (3), [Apip(H+)4][Cl]4 (4) (Apip = N,N'-bis(2-aminoethyl)piperazine), [dbm][I] (5A), and [dbm][I](C7H8) (5B) (dbm = N,N-dibenzylmorpholinium) are presented.
