Abstract

Wind driven debris imposes localized impact loads on building envelopes in addition to the overall wind load. Realistic impact speeds of objects with varying shapes and sizes are discussed, and the damage potential of these are quantified in terms of the missile mass and velocity. The response of a metal cladding wall system was studied by subjecting a specimen to static loading and dynamic impact loading in the elastic region. The response of the system to these loads were determined by measuring and analysing the reaction at a support.
