It's very 'white' isn't it!: challenging monoculturalism in social work and welfare education
Journal Publication ResearchOnline@JCUGair, Susan;Thomson, Jane;Miles, Debra;Harris, Nonie
Abstract
In the project described in this article an action research methodology provided the framework for the authors to act as researchers of their own teaching. The outcome from the project was movement further away from the presentation of a mono-cultural social work and welfare curriculum toward one that was more relevant to and respectful of North Queensland's Indigenous students and communities. While the initial project has been completed, the authors consider this to be an ongoing process of reflection and change.
