‘Thing 14: Why Do Academics Use Social Media?’, co-written by Dr. Tseen Khoo (notable for her work with Research Whisperer), Dr. Amanda Brunton from the University of Cambridge, and Daniel O'Sullivan. 23 Things International 2023 is a unique, self-directed, online global programme for researchers interested in learning new tools for research, building their professional profile, and networking. Topics range from podcasting to understanding open access, crowdsourcing to publication strategy, career mapping to infographics. It is free and open to doctoral researchers, and academics from all disciplines. 2024 marked James Cook University's inaugural participation in this unique, self-directed, online global program. Over 80 participants from JCU, including 11 from JCUS.
