Elizabeth Spencer

Liz holds the degrees of Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies and Biology from Trinity College, Master of Community and Regional Planning from the University of Texas at Austin, Juris Doctor from the University of Arizona and Ph.D. from Bond University.

Liz has taught across the law curriculum for over fifteen years with Bond University and three years with Australian Catholic University, where she was instrumental in establishing a new law school. Her subject areas include contracts, torts, corporations, business law, international trade law, common law and legal skills, and franchising law and regulation.

A member of the Texas State Bar since 1997, Liz practiced law briefly in the US before moving to The Hague where she worked as a managing editor for Kluwer Law International and at the International Court of Justice. She has professional experience in the private and nonprofit sectors.

Liz' scholarship in franchising law and regulation has earned her recognition domestically and overseas. She is the author of books and articles on commercial law and regulation and consults with industry, the profession and governmental bodies. She also conducts research in the areas of intellectual property management, non-profit governance, and contracting relationships in development cooperation.
