Biography
Marc is a lecturer in psychology with the College of Healthcare Sciences at James Cook University Bebegu Yumba (Townsville) Campus.
Marc's research interests include mindfulness-based interventions, the application of critical thinking to identify misinformation and disinformation, and associative learning in human learning and behaviour. His doctoral study focused on learning across multiple contexts in classical and instrumental conditioning and its effects on the recovery of first-learned associations. This research provided insights into the factors that can reduce the effectiveness of experimental extinction learning when original associations are acquired across multiple contexts.
Marc is a passionate lecturer whose philosophy revolves around enhancing student outcomes through improved access to learning materials and creating an inclusive and equitable learning environment. Marc has consistently achieved high subject (4.9 / 5 for SP52 2023 PY2111) and teacher ratings (5 / 5 for SP52 2023 PY2111) across his subjects. Additionally, Marc is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), an accolade that reflects his commitment to excellence in higher education teaching and assessment.
Marc's educational background includes a PhD from James Cook University (Feb 2020-Apr 2024), where he received a fee-waiver scholarship amounting to SGD $130,000 and passed his PhD thesis examination with no amendments, an MSc in Psychology and Neuroscience of Mental Health with Distinction from King’s College London (2017-2019), an MSc in International Business Management (top graduate, cohort-wide) from Edinburgh Napier University, Scotland (2015-2016), a Post-Graduate Certificate in Academic Practice with Distinction from the University of Liverpool (2023-2024), and a Specialist Diploma in Career Counselling from Republic Polytechnic, Singapore (2020-2021).
