Biography
Dr. Nguyen
Thanh Vu is currently working under Tropical Futures Institute, James Cook
University involving practical genetics and genomic methods for improving fish
productivity for Singaporean aquaculture. His background involved
multidiscipline aquaculture sciences with an emphasis on genetic research for
aquaculture species, especially on enhancing fish productivity and quality via
selective breeding.
Over ten
years working in the aquaculture research and industry, he has gained
invaluable experiences regarding propagation, breeding, nursing, diseases, and
selection methodologies in diverse aquaculture species, from fish to prawn and
shrimp in the various environments from freshwater to brackish and seawater.
He enjoyed
discovering the new area of genomic data inference which attracted his passion.
His interest now is expanding skills towards understanding insight into
genomics to provide valuable responses to existing industry matters within the
selective breeding context.
