Biography

Asmita is a Senior Academic Lead - Allied Health at the Central QLD Centre for Rural and Remote Health. Asmita is also an adjunct research fellow at the University of the Sunshine Coast.  Asmita completed a Master's in OT from the State University of New York, Buffalo, in 2009. Asmita's PhD research, completed in 2024, examined feeding difficulties in young children. 


Asmita has practised as an Occupational Therapist in Australia and the United States of America. She has worked in both the public and private health sectors. Her clinical experience comprises paediatrics (including newborns), rehabilitation, rural generalist (sole practitioner in a rural hospital), and clinical education. Asmita is passionate about paediatric Occupational Therapy and rural and remote health care. She is highly motivated to provide high-quality student learning and teaching experiences.
