Biography
Alex is an Adjunct Research Fellow within the College of Medicine and Dentistry at JCU. Within the broad field of health policy and systems research, Alex is a leading contributor to studies on public health systems and workforce in northern Australia, and research impact within health service settings. Alex has led or been a key member of consultancies with the Australia and New Zealand School of Government and the World Health Organization. Alex's PhD was on the role of academic health centres in improving population health, using four case studies in Australia and England, which involved time spent in England as a Visiting Academic at Oxford University.
Prior to commencing her PhD, Alex held a range of project, policy and management roles at James Cook University, including with the Division of Tropical Health and Medicine, the Australian Institute of Tropical Health and Medicine, the State of the Tropics Project and the Tropical Australian Academic Health Centre. Alex's undergraduate and postgraduate background is in development studies, public policy and management, and public health. Her background in the Kimberley and northern Queensland has shaped her focus on improving outcomes for rural and remote communities across northern Australia.
